Weird Western Tales #33 - Joe Kubert cover

Joe Kubert
Weird Western Tales v1 #33 presents Jonah Hex, 1976 - Joe Kubert was one of DC's most prolific cover artists during the 1970s, so it's surprising that he drew only two for this title (and several years apart at that). No stranger to the western genre, Kubert delivers a mostly mediocre effort, weak in composition and lacking in background details. It doesn't help that the masthead and related text take up much of the available space. On the positive side, the issue does contain some terrific story art by Jose Luis Garcia Lopez. This is number 2 of 2 Weird Western issues with Kubert art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Kubert or Weird Western Tales issues. See also this blog's Joe Kubert checklist.
