Captain America Special Edition #2 - Jim Steranko reprints

Captain America Special Edition #2, 1980 - Like the previous issue, this special edition showcases the Marvel work of Jim Steranko from the early bronze age. It contains only one reprint from his brief Captain America run, and includes an early Nicky Fury tale with a Cap appearance. Steranko's only love story is reprinted here only the second time since its initial publication. I do have to question the inclusion of a Nick Fury #3 parody (art by Frank Springer, reprinted from Not Brand Ecch perhaps?) when Steranko's original would have been more pleasing. Though the brighter colors and whiter paper stock may be appealing to some, in my opinion the earlier editions are far more enjoyable. This issue reprints Captain America #113, Our Love Story #5 and Strange Tales #159. See today's posts or more Steranko or Captain America issues. I think the Not Brand Echh spoof was used because it's shorter than the original Steranko story.
It's just "filler" (and it is pretty well done!)
Appropriately enough, Springer followed Steranko on the Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. book.
