Wyatt Earp v2 #13 - Alex Toth, Russ Manning art

Wyatt Earp v2 #13 - dell western 1960s silver age comic book cover art
Wyatt Earp v2 #13, 1961 - Alex Toth does a credible job with his short story of a man hired to rustle some nearby cattle. His details start to wane toward the final pages, but the first page of a typical western saloon is expertly drawn (see interior page below). The opening panel is especially good, showing just the right amount of information to establish the setting. Note how the artist cloaks the sitting man's identity, suggesting an unknown factor in the plot. Russ Manning draws a small, but efficient illustration for one of the text stories. Other artists in this issue include Dan Spiegle. This is number 2 of 2 Wyatt Earp issues with Toth art and/or covers and number 13 of 13 Wyatt Earp issues with Manning art and/or covers.
