Dell Giant #51 |
Tarzan King of the Jungle v1 / Dell Giant #51, 1961 - Like most of the Dell Giants, this issue's page count of eighty-plus pages dwarfs most comics of the same era. The Brothers of the Spear feature parallels their long running back-up stories in Dell's regular Tarzan series. Russ Manning, the artist of most of those tales, makes a fine contribution here. Tavane and Zulena, the Brothers' queens, are captured by a dangerous wizard. The adversary soon occupies the heart of the palace itself, forcing the heroes to breach their own home. Page seven is noteworthy in its depiction of the main characters and their use of the rocky landscape. Competently paced and laid out, this effort is comparable to the artist's other Dell works. Other artists in this silver age comic include Jesse Marsh. This is 1 of 1 Tarzan King of the Jungle issues by Manning.
