The Texan #8 - Matt Baker art & cover

Matt Baker
The Texan v1 #8, 1950 - In both Matt Baker stories, pages are heavily worded and panels are overly crowded. The opening splash of the first tale, however, is unique in its scale and complexity of layout. A frontier woman comes to the aid a young indian. Her hand is outstretched, pointing toward the violent scene. Baker lovingly details her dress, increasing the sense of movement. His cover of a violent kidnapping seems a bit busy yet adequately drawn. This is number 5 of 11 Texan  issues with Baker art and/or covers. See today's posts, more Baker or Texan issues.
