Champions #12 - John Byrne art

Champions #12
The Champions v1 #12, 1977 - Black Goliath makes his second appearance as a member of the team, just as the mysterious Stranger enters the storyline. Add to that an enlarged Stilt-Man, and you have three giant-sized characters within the same issue. John Byrne's puts their enormity to good use throughout most of the pages, but it's his spread on pages 2-3 that takes your breath away. The layout is precisely designed with all eight figures masterfully fitted together like a jigsaw puzzle. Bob Layton continues to make adjustments to Byrne's style but does a smoothly reliable job. Other artists in this bronze age comic include cover artist Dave Cockrum. This is 2 of 6 Champions issues by Byrne. /// Byrne gallery
