Teen-age Romances #34 - Matt Baker art & cover

Teenage Romances #34, 1953 - A teenage girl's wild parties have unintended results in this Matt Baker tale. The cover is suggestive, but tame by today's standards. The smoking, drinking, and kissing scenes may have also elicited a bigger response in the 1950s, but romance comics rarely contained hard drug abuse or or overt sexuality. Baker does a superb job with the characters, conveying their moods and motivations through their faces and body language. His renderings are gorgeous and his storytelling concise. His female lead dominates the majority of pages and is beautiful in her own conniving way. See today's posts or more Baker or Teen-age Romances issues.

Thanks for sharing the Baker art. I enjoy visiting your blog and seeing which issue you'll come up with next. It is also refreshing to see the Baker outside of St. John as well. Do you have a large Baker collection?

My Baker collection is not as big as I'd like it to be, and his issues seem extremely scarce. I've got many more Matt Baker posts on the way. Thanks for visiting.
