Black Fury #17 - Steve Ditko art

Black Fury #17
Black Fury v1 #17, 1958 - Four Steve Ditko stories reside in this single issue, with varying artistic approaches for each. The first, "Stranger in the Herd", is the most appealing, with its excellent opening splash of two savagely fighting horses. The artist uses open panels on page three to effectively suggest a wider, more spacious environment. Ditko's second tale, about a city slicker, is noteworthy for the thin, fine lines used primarily on the faces and figures. By the third story, he reverts back to his more commonly used thicker brushstrokes. Although his last tale is disappointingly minimal, it does carry the same attention to equine anatomy as the rest of the book. Other artists in this golden age comic include Rocco Mastroserio. This is 2 of 3 Black Fury issues by Ditko.
