Tarzan of the Apes v1 #174, 1968 - Captured by a tribe of large, brutish women, Tarzan is equally surprised by their foes: hundreds of diminutive warriors. The artwork by Russ Manning is simply superb. The open skies and relatively calm of the first few pages eventually gives way to more chaotic scenes. Especially impressive is Manning's ability to maintain details on panels with multiple tiny figures (see interior page below). This issue begins to adapt Edgar Rice Burroughs' Tarzan and the Ant Men. Other artists in this silver age adventure comic include Jesse Marsh. This is number 130 of 133 Tarzan issues by Manning.
