Outer Space #20 |
Outer Space v1 #20, 1958 -
Steve Ditko contributed three stories, his last for this Charlton science-fiction title. Two are mildly interesting, I admit, even with their flat, simplistically graphic approach. Of the three, Ditko seems to put more effort into "The Greater Jovians", a tale of planetary famine. The artist cleverly uses full pages and insets to reinforce the theme of relative scale (see interior page below). This golden age issue includes art by Sol Brodsky and Maurice Whitman. Cover by Dick Giordano (although the machinery looks suspiciously like Wally Wood). This is 3 of 4

Any idea who drew the cover? Figure looks too good to be Ditko.
Wally Wood
Wally Wood for everything except the alien face
GCD credits the cover to Dick Giordano. The background looks like Wood though. I wonder if the background was swiped from an earlier EC sci-fi issue.
