Joe Kubert |
Our Army at War v1 #254 featuring Sgt. Rock, 1973 - Sgt. Rock and Jackie are overwhelmed by the enemy on this gripping
Joe Kubert cover.
Alex Toth's back-up story is far more subtle, chronicling the life of a World War I fighter pilot."The Tally"refers to the ace's confirmed kills. The high altitude settings are often spare, yet the artist maintains interest with perfectly drawn biplanes (see interior page below). Page design and clever sequencing also contribute to one of Toth's best period war stories. This story was later reprinted in
Sgt. Rock Special #2. Other artists in this bronze age comic include Russ Heath. This is 189 of 236
