Rock and Jackie are overwhelmed by the enemy on this gripping Joe Kubert cover. Alex Toth's back-up story is far more subtle, chronicling the life of a World War I fighter pilot."The Tally"refers to the ace's confirmed kills. The high altitude settings are often spare, yet the artist maintains interest with perfectly drawn biplanes (see interior page below). Page design and clever sequencing also contribute to one of Toth's best period war stories. This story was later reprinted in Sgt. Rock Special #2.
