Thor v1 #172 marvel comic book cover art by Jack Kirby
Jack Kirby
Thor v1 #172, 1970 - After kidnapping Jane Foster, a billionaire named Kronin Krask blackmails her lover to perform surgery: a mind transplant between Krask and the god of thunder. Jack Kirby and inker Bill Everett again join forces to deliver a stunning issue. On page 12, Thor's approach of the fortified castle (see interior page below) is told in four equal quadrants of exceptional design. Krask for the first time on page 8, his massive figure filling up the entire splash page. Kirby's cover employs a symmetrical placement of combatants while inserting a key character in the circle below. This is number 47 of 61 Thor issues with Kirby art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Kirby or Thor issues. See also this blog's Kirby checklist.
