Warlock v1 #9, 1975 - This premiere issue takes over the numbering from the first series (Warlock #1-8), but picks up the storyline from Strange Tales #181. Warlock, Pip and Gamora encounter the all-powerful Magus for the first time. Jim Starlin, partially responsible for reviving the lead character, continues his impressive work. Intricately drawn panels reside within thoughtfully designed layouts. A silently sequenced countdown (see interior page below) is one of many well-paced scenes. The story culminates with the sudden arrival of Thanos. This story was later reprinted in Warlock v2 #2 and Fantasy Masterpieces v2 #12. This is 1 of 7 Warlock issues by Starlin. /// Starlin gallery
