Uncle Scrooge #19 - Carl Barks art & cover

Carl Barks
Walt Disney's Uncle Scrooge v1 #19, 1957 - Scrooge takes Donald and the boys with him as he surveys his vast holdings around the world. From Bolivia to India to Sweden, their travels eventually take them to the Middle East. In typical Carl Barks' fashion, the ducks find the lost treasure of King Solomon, but not without consequences. A high point of the artwork is the stampede of wild animals descending upon Scrooge (page 26). Shorter but equally pleasant is Barks' Gyro Gearloose tale, where the inventor tries to build the first soft-sided house. "The Mines of King Solomon" was reprinted in Uncle Scrooge #108, the Gyro tale in #72. The inside front cover is also by the artist, later reprinted in #74. This is 19 of 70 Uncle Scrooge issues by Barks.
