Green Lantern v2 #89 - Neal Adams art & cover

Green Lantern / Green Arrow v2 #89, 1972 - A young activist uses civil disobedience to shed light on industrial pollution and its effects on the environment. His cause, manner and appearance are suggestively Christ-like as portrayed on the cover. Neal Adams' final issue is passionately drawn and paced. His layouts are open and fluid, allowing figures to overlap into neighboring panels for increased depth (see interior page above). Though beautifully rendered, the crucifixion metaphor must have been as controversial then as it is today. Other artists in this issue include Irwin Hasen (golden age Green Lantern reprint from 1946). This is number 15 of 15 Green Lantern issues with Adams art and/or covers.
