Frank Miller / Wally Wood |
Daredevil v1 #164, 1980 - Ben Ulrich, a reporter for the Daily Bugle, pieces together the secret of Daredevil's identity. The hero's origin is retold, revealing new facts and details.
Frank Miller's drawings are capable, but it's his pacing and page compositions that stand out. The crucial accident that changed Matt Murdock's life seems to happen instantly, while later in the story, a mobster's heart attack slows to a crawl. Miller also masterfully uses repetition and variation to full effect.
Wally Wood, who drew some of the earliest issues of the series, returns to ink this
pieta-themed cover. Loosely executed, the artist's last Marvel effort is nonetheless impactful. This is 6 of 33
Daredevil issues by
Miller art and 8 of 8 Daredevil issues by
Wood. ///
