Star Spangled Comics #1 - 1st Star-Spangled Kid, Stripesy

Star Spangled Comics v1 #1, 1941 - A spoiled teenager from a wealthy family becomes a superhero in secret. Paired up with his beefy but dim chauffer, they tackle crime as the Star Spangled Kid and Stripesy. One of the sillier ideas from the golden age, this story was written by Jerry Siegel (of Superman fame) and drawn by Hal Sherman. Also premiering in separate stories are Captain X, an American pilot fighting Nazis in an atomic-powered plane, and the Tarantula, a masked man who shoots artificial webbing with a gun and walks on walls via suction cups. /// key 1st appearance, 1st cover Sylvester Pemberton as Star-Spangled Kid, Pat Dugan as Stripesy, 1st appearance Captain X, Tarantula, 1st issue
