X-Men v1 #63, 1969 - Magneto reveals himself as he begins his conquest of the Savage Land. In response, the X-Men join forces with the jungle lord Ka-Zar. Neal Adams' cover hints at the birth of a newly created mutant named Lorelei. His interior artwork is better, starting with a triumphant portrait of Magneto. A second splash of the Beast and Ka-Zar fighting in tandem has less impact, due to a monochromatic palette. Still, Adams maintains a high standard toward the end of his run. This story was later reprinted in X-Men Classics #3.
