Witching Hour #1 - Neal Adams, Alex Toth art + 1st Cynthia, Mildred, Mordred

Witching Hour #1
Witching Hour v1 #1, 1969 - Inspired by Shakespeare's Macbeth, this first issue introduces Cynthia, Mildred and Mordred, a trio of witches that would serve as hosts for the series. Alex Toth pulls readers in with his superbly creepy introductory pages. In the same issue, the artist chronicles the tale of a lonely dwarf, teased and tormented by the local villagers. Not as well executed, the drawings are merely adequate. This story was later reprinted in Witching Hour #38. Unexpectedly, Neal Adams steps in to do the last two framing pages in his own distinctive style. This issue also includes artwork by Pat Boyette and Jack Sparling. Cover by Nick Cardy. This is 1 of 8 Witching Hour issues by Adams and 1 of 10 Witching Hour issues by Toth. /// key 1st appearance Cynthia, Mildred, Mordred, 1st issue / Toth gallery
