Bernie Wrightson |
Swamp Thing v1 #7, 1973 - For the first time, the Swamp Thing encounters another major character within the DC universe. His incursion into Gotham City leads him face-to-face with the Batman. Though devoid of splash pages,
Bernie Wrightson's story art is excellent. His version of the dark knight is distinctively eerie, matching the shadowy urban environment. Highlights include the display of Swamp Thing's formidable strength on page 3 panel 4 and Batman's potent fighting skills on page 16. This story was later reprinted in
Limited Collectors' Edition #C-59,
DC Special Series #17 and
Roots of the Swamp Thing #4. Interestingly, Wrightson drew a similarly superb Batman on the cover of
Detective Comics #425. This is 7 of 10
Swamp Thing issues by
Wrightson. ///
