Lennon Sisters Life Story / Four Color Comics v2 #951 - Alex Toth art

The Lennon Sisters Life Story / Four Color Comics v2 #951, 1958 - This biography chronicles the rise of one of the most famous quartets of the era. Peggy, Janet, Kathy and Diane Lennon are sisters who began singing at an early age and were subsequently discovered by bandleader Lawrence Welk. Alex Toth is entrusted with telling their story and does so superbly in an unassuming documentary style. The first nine or so pages are artistically stronger than the rest, but the artist maintains a high level of draftsmanship throughout. The clever use of a photo album cover as the opening panel only reinforces Toth's mastery of the medium. This is number 1 of 2 Lennon Sisters issues with Toth art and/or covers. This is number 2 of 2 Lennon Sisters issues with Toth art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Toth or Lennon Sisters issues. See also this blog's Toth checklist.
