Magnus Robot Fighter #3 - Russ Manning art

Magnus Robot Fighter #3
Magnus Robot Fighter v1 #3, 1964 - Programmed by a rogue scientist named Xyrkol, a gargantuan robot from Planet X lays waste to North Am. Due to its size and scale, Russ Manning takes the opportunity to use numerous large panels, benefiting the artwork overall. Scenes such as the alien spaceship's arrival (see interior page below) and the subsequent rampage gives readers a broader view of the expansive city. Manning does a good job at envisioning futuristic architecture, drawn in a concise style perfectly suited for the series. This story was later reprinted in Vintage Magnus Robot Fighter #2. The Aliens back-up feature (also by Manning) dependably meets expectations. This is 3 of 21 Magnus Robot Fighter issues by Manning. /// Manning gallery
