Tower of Shadows #7 - Barry Windsor Smith, Wally Wood art, Jack Kirby / Steve Ditko cover reprint, Kirby reprint

Tower of Shadows v1 #7, 1970 - Barry Smith's last effort on the series chronicles the mystery of an old English manor. His pencils are generally mediocre, further watered down by Vince Colletta's inking. Smith seems to struggle with the layouts, crowding the panels more than necessary. Wally Wood's sword and sorcery feature is more successful, with its J. R. R. Tolkein-like cast of characters and sweeping opening splash. This story was later reprinted in the Marvel Comics Art of Wally Wood. The issue also reprints the Jack Kirby cover and story from Tales to Astonish #10. This is number 3 of 3 Tower of Shadows issues with Smith art and/or covers and number 3 of 4 Tower of Shadows issues with Wood art and/or covers.
