Batman #219 - Neal Adams art & cover

Batman #219, 1970 - The Capitol Building in Washington DC serves as a backdrop for this competent Neal Adams cover. The artist's first story for the series is not the main feature, but a Christmas-themed back-up tale. On the eve of the holiday, the Batman takes a break among police officers while potential crimes and tragedies occur. The most pivotal scenes are devoid of dialogue, leaving most of the storytelling to Adams' visuals. Despite some odd colored panels (page 1 for example), the artwork exceeds expectations. This heartwarming story would be reprinted in Christmas compilations for years to come. Other artists in this issue include John Guinta (reprint) and Irk Novick.
