Mad #1 - Wally Wood art + 1st issue

Mad #1
Mad v1 #1, 1952 - Best known for its horror comics, EC introduces a satirical humor title. Ironically, it would outlast the company and achieve iconic status. This firstissue pokes fun at various genres: horror, crime, science fiction, western, etc. Wally Wood tells of far-flung future, where two men realize their technological mess of a civilization started with the invention of the tool. The artwork is beautifully drawn and detailed. Zipatone screens are used on certain panels for enhanced effects. Wood is surprisingly good at illustrating humor. Other artists in this issue include John Severin, Jack Davis, Harvey Kurtzman and Bill Elder. Cover by Kurtzman. This is 1 of 86 Mad issues by Wood. /// key 1st issue
