Avengers v1 #70, 1969 - Trapped in a cosmic game between Kang and the Grandmaster, the Avengers are pitted against a team of newly created combatants called the Squadron Sinister. Hyperion, Whizzer, Doctor Spectrum and Nighthawk make their first appearances, along with their brief origins. Note that writer Roy Thomas loosely based this team on DC's Justice League.
