Gil Kane |
Inhumans v1 #1, 1975 - A massive machine erupts through the floor of the royal palace. At the same time, an enraged Blastaar attacks the city and its inhabitants. While not their
first ongoing series, this
first issue marks the start of the Inhumans' first self-titled series. Black Bolt, Medusa, Triton, Karnak and Gorgon are the primary characters in this Doug Moench story. A young George Perez draws the interiors (Frank Chiaramonte inks), but it's
Gil Kane's cover that deserves the accolades. He fits the entire team while emphasizing both the Inhumans' leader and the story's antagonist. His excellent layout has a compositional flow that feels neither crowded nor confusing. ///
