Jurassic Park: The Devils in the Desert v1 #1, 2011 - A slew of cattle mutilations alarm the residents of a small California town. The local sheriff investigates, aided by the FBI and paleontologists from a nearby university.
John Byrne's layouts are smartly paced to serve the story. His drawings lack the fine detail of earlier works, but are sufficient. Interestingly, he uses a framed background on a two-page spread to increase depth. Partially successful, it also strongly suggests a movie theater screen. Byrne's cover is even less detailed, but the silhouetted teeth is an effective technique used throughout the series. This is 1 of 4
