Detective Comics v1 #491, 1980 - Newly escaped from prison, Maxie Zeus brings a valuable stolen item to a school for homeless girls? Don Newton's rendition of Batman is excellent, on par with any of his artistic predecessors. His drawings, layouts and pacing are thoughtfully executed. The Batman's dramatic entrance on page four (an extreme bird's eye view) is a high point of the story. Other artists in this copper age comic include Alex Saviuk, Vince Colletta, Pat Broderick, Frank McLaughlin, Dan Spiegle and Dick Dillin. Cover by Ross Andru and Dick Giordano. Other characters featured include Black Lightning, Robin and Batgirl. This is 11 of 39 Detective Comics issues by Newton.
