Captain Steve Savage #NN (#1) - Wally Wood art + 1st appearance

Captain Steve Savage #nn
Captain Steve Savage v1 #NN (no number)(#1), 1950 - Assigned to accompany bombers going into North Korea, a lone fighter pilot gets shot down. Parachuting into enemy territory, Steve Savage is rescued by anti-communist fighters and joins their cause for the short term. Though early in his career, Wally Wood shows enthusiasm in his work. The artist makes good use of the large panels that begin each of the three chapters. Crudely drawn overall, his drawings also show great promise. Other artists in this issue include Louis Ravielli. Cover by Gene Fawcette. This is 1 of 1 Captain Steve Savage issues by Wood. /// key 1st appearance, 1st cover Captain Steve Savage, 1st issue
