This issue's main story, featuring the Blob, first appeared in X-men #3 (part two of two). John Byrne does an admirable job with the new cover. Multiple figures (and animals) fill the layout comfortably. Placed centrally, the mutant team become a clear and unobstructed focal point. Other artists in this bronze age issue include Werner Roth.
