G.I. Combat #87 |
G.I. Combat #87, 1961 - A descendant and namesake of a Confederate general, Jeb Stuart signs up for infantry during WWII. Assigned to one of the smaller tanks in the army, he and his crew have extraordinary luck in battle. An unseen hand guides them, along with a voice only Jeb himself can hear. This first
Haunted Tank tale was written by Robert Kanigher and drawn by
Russ Heath, who also delivered the impeccable cover. The design has plenty of depth and perspective, putting the reader in the midst of the action. "Introducing the Haunted Tank" was later reprinted
in Our Army at War #216 and
DC Special Blue Ribbon Digest #12. Other artists in this issue include Bernard Baily. Cover by Heath. ///
