Shock Suspenstories #3 - Wally Wood art & cover

Wally Wood
Shock Suspenstories v1 #3, 1952 - Accused of murdering a white woman, a young black man is held in jail as a large lynch mob forms outside. Published during an era of actual lynchings, Wally Wood draws the tale with plenty of drama and emotion. The hate and racism is palpable throughout the pages, down to the bloody title page. Wood's cover, unrelated to the story, is nicely detailed but suffers by comparison. Other artists in this golden age comic include Jack Davis and Sid Check. This is 2 of 14 Shock Suspenstories issues by Wood.
