Epic Illustrated v1 #4, 1980 - On a decimated world, Vance and Aknaton locate the artificial man tasked with guarding the ultimate weapon. The various tints and tones of Jim Starlin's paintings have an almost somber quality to them. The artist's black framing on the panels certainly contributes to this. Aesthetically, the artwork nicely stands out in an issue with several admirable works. Other artists in this bronze age issue include P. Craig Russell and Paul Kirchner. Cover by Mike Kaluta.
