Creepy v1 #100, 1978 - An unnamed city experiences wanton crime and destruction through a city-wide blackout. Oriented in a horizontal format, Alex Nino lays out his pages (except the opening splash) into six vertical panel grids. As the story is told as a sequence of events, the format works rather beautifully. Nino's varied drawings ensure there's maximum clarity with little monotony. In a separate tale, a newly divorced man saves a wolf-like dog and quickly gains a loyal companion. Russ Heath's artwork is clean and precise, contrasting against some of the more violent panels. The lack of color also doesn't diminish the bite of his drawings. This issue also includes artwork by John Severin and Luis Bermejo. - - - - - - - - - -
