Joined by interplanetary refugees Martinex, Yondu and Charlie-27, they join forces as the Guardians of the Galaxy. This original silver age team of galactic freedom fighters would continue well into the bronze age era. Written by Arnold Drake and drawn by Gene Colan and Mickey Demeo, their first appearance was later reprinted in Astonishing Tales #29.
