Detective Comics #38 - 1st Robin

Detective Comics #38
Detective Comics v1 #38, 1940 - During a circus high wire act, the Flying Graysons fall to their deaths due to foul play. Their son Dick vows to avenge their deaths as the Batman trains him to be his crimefighting partner. Robin's first appearance begins a trend of sidekicks for superheroes. I like how the cover unabashedly celebrates his debut. Quite circus-like. Written by Bill Finger and drawn by Bob Kane, this origin was later reprinted in Secret Origins v2 #7. Cover by Kane and Jerry Robinson. /// key 1st appearance, 1st cover, 1st origin Dick Grayson as Robin
