Steve Ditko |
Amazing Spider-man v1 #35, 1966 - The Molten Man returns since his initial debut seven issues ago. More thoughtful and strategic this time, he uses a disguise to mask his rather obvious appearance. Steve Ditko's original cover had too much focus on the "rear end" and was subsequently changed to a tamer version. His story pages, however, are terrific. Spider-man's blow-by-blow fight with the Molten Man is masterfully sequenced. The pacing halts toward the end, as a crestfallen Peter Parker learns of Betty Brandt's departure. This is 35 of 38
