Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #234 |
Walt Disney's Comics and Stories v1 #234, 1960 - Reliving the old west, Donald Duck and some tourists re-create the pony express, complete with an indian ambush. Drawn with confidence and efficiency,
Carl Barks even makes the story's desert settings more interesting. There are odd scenes where the tourists act and speak in broken English, reinforcing Native American stereotypes. Artistically speaking, however, Barks delivers. This story was later reprinted in
Walt Disney Comics Digest #21 and
Donald Duck #192. Other features include Mickey Mouse, Scamp and Chip n' Dale. Other artists in this issue include Jack Bradbury, Paul Murry and Al Hubbard. Cover by Tony Strobl. This is 194 of 280
