Spasm #1 - Jeff Jones art & cover + 1st issue

Jeff Jones
Spasm v1 #1, 1973 - A one-shot underground fanzine, Spasm featured an assortment of Jeff Jones works. The outside covers are full color, with black and white interiors. The stories are numerous because they're relatively short, from one to five pages. The artist employs are variety of styles, from pen and ink to gray washes. "The Enemy" is obviously from a much earlier period, before his work reached maturation. The remaining tales are beautifully rendered with the printing limitations in mind. Although the cover says "adults only", the language and nudity are quite tame by today's standards. "Spirit of '76" and "The Bridge" were were later reprinted in Ravens and Rainbows #1. This is 1 of 1 Spasm issues by Jones. /// key 1st issue
