Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #69 |
Walt Disney's Comics and Stories v1 #69, 1946 - Daisy Duck swoons over a muscle magazine, prompting her boyfriend Donald to start weightlifting. This would not be the last time he tries to self-improve to please his girl. Donald's attempts at working out are portrayed with as much empathy as humor. The drawings by Carl Barks are expectedly appealing, but his strengths in this story are his deft pacing and sequencing. This story was later reprinted in Mickey and Donald #6. Other artists in this issue include Al Taliaferro. Cover by Walt Kelly. This is 38 of 280 Walt Disney's Comics and Stories issues by Barks.
