Walt Disney's Comics and Stories v1 #55, 1945 - Donald Duck and the boys arrive at Cuthbert Coot's cattle ranch, just in time to have a contest to prove who's the best cowboy. A variety of farm animals allows Carl Barks the opportunity to visualize a host of new gags. In fact, most of the characters are drawn with expression and more than a little exaggeration (see interior page below). As usual, his page layouts stand out for their cohesion and clarity. This story was later reprinted in Donald Duck #275. Cover by Walt Kelly. This is 24 of 280 Walt Disney's Comics and Stories issues by Barks.
