World's Finest Comics #253 - Steve Ditko, Don Newton art

World's Finest Comics #253
World's Finest Comics v1 #253, 1978 - Don Newton begins his lengthy run on the ongoing Shazam feature, starring Captain Marvel and family. Competently drawn and laid out, there's an inherent friendliness to his work that makes the characters all the more appealing. This story was later reprinted in Shazam! The World's Mightiest Mortal #3. Newton's inside front cover falls far short of his story art. Steve Ditko continues his ongoing Creeper back-up stories. Drawn a bit more frenetically than necessary, many scenes are unintentionally humorous. Other artists in this bronze age comic include Trevor von Eeden and Vince Colletta. Cover by Jim Aparo. This is 1 of 28 World's Finest Comics issues by Newton and 5 of 7 World's Finest Comics issues by Ditko.
