Monsters and Heroes #2 - Jeff Jones art

Monsters and Heroes v1 #2, 1967 - Set in an unknown fantasy world, a designated Dragon Slayer saves the last dragon egg for himself rather than destroying it. A young Jeff Jones shows off his work, inspired by Frank Frazetta and others. Yet with the zipatone screens and his own cross hatching, the artist develops his own style. His drawings are somewhat crude, but indicative for his typical graphic approach. This short-lived fanzine contained comic book formatted stories, photos and articles. A full color cover houses the black and white contents inside. Interestingly, a photo of Jones and his wife Louise appears in the issue's introductory text. Other artists in this bronze age fanzine include Larry Ivie. This is 1 of 1 Monsters and Heroes issues by Jones

This was to a fanzine. Larry Ives was the man behind it (he did that great cover and the continuing story of Altron boy) but it was purchased -I still have my issues - on the spinning racks in stores across the north east. I got mine in Brooklyn at regular candy store.
