Popular Romance v1 #24, 1953 - Widowed from the war, a young woman hides her young son from prospective suitors. As usual, Alex Toth's page and panel designs are more sophisticated than the usual romance tales. Interestingly, on page 5, the artist places small figures of the single mother and her child on a largely empty panel. This perhaps suggests the loneliness of their plight. Some sources credit the inks to frequent partner Mike Peppe, but stylistically it resembles Toth's own delineations. Either way the story is a memorable effort.
