Frank Frazetta |
Eerie v3 #7, 1967 - Uncommonly understated, this
Frank Frazetta cover lacks the impact of other Warren magazines. The original painting is horizontal, forcing the publisher into fitting it within a vertical format. Inside,
Steve Ditko's tale is about a hit man who undergoes surgery to change his face and elude capture. The artist uses gray washes to thoughtful effect throughout the story (see interior page below). Unfortunately, the simplicity of the drawings, repetitive layouts and subpar title page mar the whole effort. This story was reprinted in
Eerie v3 #135 and the
Eerie v3 1972 annual. Other artists in this bronze age magazine include Gene Colan and Dan Adkins. This is 5 of 8
Eerie issues by
Ditko and 4 of 7
Eerie issues by
Frazetta.
