Popular Romance #27 |
Popular Romance v1 #27, 1954 - Growing up in a poor immigrant family, Stefan Kryak realizes his dream of becoming a doctor. Unfortunately, he forgets both his roots and the girl who's loved him since childhood.
Alex Toth's final work on the series is arguably his best. From the excellent title page to the tender resolution at the end, the drawings are masterfully planned and thoughtfully sequenced. Mike Peppe's inking and detailing varies slightly from panel to panel, but generally adds much needed richness and texture. Toth also illustrates a single pager, teaching the painful lesson of shallowness. Other artists in this golden age comic include Art Saaf, John Celardo and Mike Roy. This is 6 of 6
