Happy Comics #27 |
Happy Comics v1 #27, 1948 - Frank Frazetta provides the illustrations for three separate text stories. Featuring a kingfisher bird who enters an eating contest, a mouse who learns the value of conformity and a pair of horses that realize their strength in numbers. All three are ample in size, having significant impact in the story's presentation. Frazetta's talent and skillfulness is on full display, excelling beyond the rest of the book. In picking a favorite, "The Just-the-Same Mouse" is slightly better in composition and rendering. Other artists in this golden age comic include Lynn Karp and Don Arr. This is 8 of 18 Happy Comics issues by Frazetta.

Very surreal cover. Why is the toothpaste so big? The cast shadows don't match the shapes- what is casting that strange shadow in the bottom left corner?
