Batman #321 - Walt Simonson art

Batman #321
Batman v1 #321, 1980 - Kidnapping several of Batman's friends, the Joker uses them as part of an insane celebration of his birthday. Known for his creative layouts and panel sequences, Walt Simonson employs these techniques to great effect. His pencils, sometimes suppressed by inker Dick Giordano, are more assertive in this case. His design sense is clearly recognizable throughout (see interior page below). This story was later reprinted in Best of DC #11. Other artists in this issue include Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez. This is 3 of 5 Batman issues by Simonson.

The cover is by Garcia-Lopez. His signature is under the UPC box. It sure looks Aparo-like as far as the inks go, though.

Right you are. I should've taken closer look at the Joker, which looks more like his style. The background figures not so much.
