Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #91 |
Walt Disney's Comics and Stories v1 #91, 1948 - In order to raise his profile, Donald Duck invites high society types to his jungle-themed party. Unfortunately, things go wrong when he hypnotizes his nephews into thinking they're monkeys. Carl Barks perfectly captures the wealth and snobbery of the guests. The story's hijinks allow for some hilariously frenetic panels. Barks' layouts are fairly conservative, but his lively drawings more than compensate. This story was later reprinted in Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #307. Other features in this issue include Bucky Bug, Lil Bad Wolf and Mickey Mouse. Other artists in this golden age comic include Floyd Gottfredson. Cover by Walt Kelly. This is 60 of 280 Walt Disney's Comics and Stories issues by Barks.
